Welcome "Quilt Show" Volunteers,

The 2005 International Quilt Market (IQM) and International Quilt Festival (IQF) will run Saturday, October 22, through Sunday, October 30, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. IQM is for vendors only. IQF is open to the public.

Shifts are available before, during, and after both events. Workers will receive parking reimbursement, free admission to that day's show (festival only), and $6 per hour for themselves or their designated non-profit. People working an evening shift can ask Security to walk them to their cars.

2005 Quilt Show Job Descriptions & Pay Rates

The following positions earn $6 per hour, except for opening night: On Wednesday, October 26, all positions after 4:30 p.m. earn $6.50 per hour.

Hangers
Hangers hang quilts and set up displays. This position is very physical. You need to be able to climb ladders and work a minimum of six hours.

Doorman
During some shifts you will be screening entrants for the correct badges. During others will simply be taking tickets. Some shifts are busier than others. You need to be fast and friendly.

Guardian
Guardians are on their feet for four hours or more, protecting special exhibits from the adoring public. You can have fun here by telling the visitors what makes the exhibit special.

Take-Down
Help take down quilts and displays. This position is also very physical. You need to be able to work a minimum of four hours (or until take-down is done).
